SLIPPED DISC
When covering of the disc ruptures and central jelly like material slips out of its place causing neural compression, it is termed as slipped disc in layman’s language or prolapsed intervertebral disc.

SYMPTOMS

Back pain
-
Radiating leg pain on one or both sides

Difficulty in walking due to pain/tingling/numbness in affected leg/s, without or with weakness in leg/s

TREATMENT
-
Conservative-Complete bed rest, Medications, Physiotherapy

Pain Management- If conservative trial fails then selective nerve root blocks

Surgery – After enough trial of conservative management, with persistent symptoms , surgery is to be offered to the patient either by conventional open method or in indicated cases minimally invasive spine surgery.
